The church is running a school on its compound under the name Friends School New Donholm that caters for baby class, nursery school, pre unit, and primary school (currently in the 6th year). The school serves not only the neighbouring community but also the wider society. There are plans to upgrade the school in terms of better infrastructure and improved curriculum.
The school which is managed and run by Friends Church and housed at the church compound was started in the year 2003 as a pre-school with 10 students, two teachers and one subordinate staff. Since then; the school has grown tremendously and now has 65 students, 8 teachers (and 2 subordinate staff.
We hope that in the next 2 years the school will be able to sit for its 1st Kenya national examination. Plans are at an advanced stage for the school to be registered by the government.
The curriculum taught in the school is drawn from the Ministry of Education noting that being a Christian school, Christian Education is mandatory.
Some of the students in the school come from disadvantaged families who struggle raising the minimal fee we charge to sustain the school.
The school also runs a feeding programme that ensures every student gets lunch from the compound during their learning days.
We also organize for an annual school trip/tour to expose the students to see some of the things they learn in class.
We have a strong sense of community with parishioners. People and children of all ages. There are encouraged to learn about their own faith and the role of the church in our community. We will carefully select, support and train.
- We will seek to offer informed pastoral care.
- Anyone who has suffered abuse developing.
